"Little" Savings That Add Up Big

I'm sure I have friends who think I'm cheap. I prefer to think of myswlf as frugual :-)
We've all heard about saving money by canceling premium cable or satellite channels. Good advice if it works for you. And eating out costs big-time, usually, compared to preparing a meal at home. Still, the economy being what it is, there are some really good deals out there. If you can afford it, reward yourself once a week by dining out. Relax and read if you're alone; relax, talk, spend some quality together-time with your significant other or friends. Also, if you're a light eater, as I am, there's always enough left over for another meal...good bargain. :-)
One of my favorite ways to save, though, is at the grocery store. Keep an eye out for store sales or BOGO's, then check your Sunday paper or online for coupons that match BOGO items. Don't buy just for the sake of buying (I've learned not to do this!), but if brand name mayo you like is on sale for 2/$6--and there's a coupon for .50 or .75 in addition--there's a deal!
Next time I'll talk about drugstore savings. Some great ways to really save there!

  1. Thank you, Diane, I agree that eating out is expensive, but we budget for it once a week and we take our lunches to work. So as a 'date night' it is fun, fun, fun! Checking Amazon for a lot of items helps too. Apparently even Walmart is becoming second to that! Can't wait to read more! Deirdre

  2. Thanks for your tips and I prefer "frugal" too! I almost always check Amazon for prices before I buy anything and I can almost always find what I need through them with free shipping. Great post!
